The design of the new Aksel Pro sprang from the various requirements which Aksel Lund Svindal has accumulated throughout his long experience on ski slopes across the world, and from LEVEL’s desire to offer a new concept glove to the market.
The glove was mainly designed to be used in Slalom and Giant Slalom racing and so the athlete’s needs focus mainly on protection from gate impact.
The principal requirement was maximum reinforcement of the back of the glove to protect the skier’s hands and forearms from the violent blows caused by ever-increasing speed.
The glove features a large forearm protector, adjustable by way of a strap and removable thanks to the small Allen screws which attach it to the main body of the glove. There are also no fewer than 13 other small protective plates which guard the most critical areas of the skier’s hand.
All these protective features, a staggering 28 in total, combined with attractive colour and new laser technology on the plates, which are expertly hand-sewn onto highly resistant, waterproof top quality leather, make for a unique glove.
The palm area has two major reinforcements: one on the index finger (to protect when opening ski boot buckles) and at the base of the thumb, for closing the buckles.
Waterproof and breathable thanks to its GORE-TEX membrane, AKSEL PRO is the first professional racing glove with Gore 2-in-1 technology, a double chamber system, offering the choice between either GRIP – a sensitive, close-fitting solution for maximum tactility and dexterity in pole grip, or WARM – ideal for extreme cold or for training sessions, with snug insulation provided by PRIMALOFT, the latest generation in soft, waterproof materials.
