Callaway Golf was the number one driver brand in the UK in March and April, according to recent figures published by Sports Marketing Surveys.
Sales of the new Fusion FT-i square head driver, plus FT-5 model, rocketed in the early part of the season leading to Callaway Golf gaining a huge value share of Europe’s largest golf market and opening up a significant lead of nearly 10 percentage points over the number two brand.
On and off-course sales of the two models have also been strong across the Continent, with the FT-i becoming the outright bestselling driver model in both Germany and France in March.
“The response to both the FT-i and FT-5 Drivers has been phenomenal and confirms what we knew all along – that these are the best performing drivers in the world,” said Neil Howie, managing director, Callaway Golf Europe.
“Golfers across the UK and the Continent have come out in their droves to test the FT-i and experience the tangible benefits and improvements in accuracy that this designed club delivers. The FT-5, too, with its increased distance, accuracy and shot-shaping control, is highly sought after at demo days, fuelling unprecedented demand at retail.”
Both clubs were originally to have been launched in April but, due to overwhelmingly positive media reviews, limited numbers were released early in February, making the results even more impressive.
Sales of new Callaway Golf products in the UK were strong across the board in March and April, with Callaway also leading value market share for irons and Odyssey maintaining its dominance in putters.
