‘One of the first UK trade shows to go ahead’

Many of the leading Tent & Awning suppliers came together earlier last week at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire to present their 2021 ranges to retail customers.  A total of nine different suppliers supported the three-day show including AMG (Vango), Outdoor Revolution / Blue Diamond, Zempire, MLSD Europe (Crespo, Bo-Camp & Narbonne), Exxel Outdoors (Kelty & Sierra Designs), Quest Leisure, Regatta and Snow Peak.

One of the few events to go ahead during the current Coronavirus crisis, the show attracted many of the key camping and outdoor dealers to visit, review the ranges on display and place forward orders for delivery next Spring.  The Stoneleigh showground made an ideal surrounding for the display of tents, awnings, camping furniture and accessories due to the wide expanse of grass, allowing tents to be displayed in their natural environment.  The mood of the show was upbeat with retailers having benefitted from a late season surge in trade following the re-opening of campsites towards the end of the school holiday period.

Positive feedback from several suppliers about market conditions and the success of the show included the following comments:

Marketing Director, Rob Birrell from AMG was upbeat about the show, “The 2020 Tent and Awning Show was once again very successful for Vango.  Against difficult travelling circumstances created through the COVID-19 pandemic, the central, outdoor venue allowed us to present our new 2021 collections to more of our retail partners than ever.  Our thanks to the organisers, and all who attended, for making the show so worthwhile and enjoyable”.

European General Manager for Exxel Outdoors, Damon Street, said, “This was the first time Exxel Outdoors UK have attended with Kelty and Sierra Designs. It was a great opportunity to introduce our product and brands to the buyers who attended. I was impressed by the quality of buyers and the interest was strong. As a result, I’m looking forward to seeing plenty more of our Tents, Sleeping Bags, Loveseats and Bestie Blankets in store and on shelves for 2021.”

Commercial Director for Outdoor Revolution / Blue Diamond, Mike Kerrycommented, “I have been part of many trade shows over the last 18 years at Stoneleigh as Buyer and Sales Manager, and this was without doubt the most positive Tent and Awning Trade Show I can remember, our feedback from all customers has been phenomenal…  I can see this event being of more and more importance going forward for the independent dealers and the brands alike, it is a perfect platform to launch our future ranges into the industry!

Brand Director for Zempire, Ian Christian said,Firstly I would like to thank Stoneleigh for allowing the show to proceed and the organisers for ensuring that we got a good exhibition. Secondly, thanks to the Retailers, for attending in the numbers you did and the enthusiasm and energy you showed towards the products on display, without you we would not have a show and finally thanks to our fellow exhibitors for showing the support to the camping industry and what it means to us all.  Even the weather played its part this year, it didn’t rain – well done all.

Based on the success of the show this year, plans are in place to expand the event and secure dates at the Stoneleigh Park showground venue in August 2021.

Show Organiser, Alasdair Scobbie from MCS said, “The show was a great success and exhibitor feedback was very positive. The quality of visitor and level of business was praised by all and there was a good atmosphere and even excitement to see colleagues and customers face to face to discuss current business opportunities and challenges.”
