Kendal Mountain Festival has again teamed with the iconic brand Patagonia, to host a five-date speaking and film tour featuring environmental adventure activists.
The Patagonia Adventure Activists Tour will be delivered this autumn, bringing a diverse network of environmentally-conscious adventurers to the stage to share their first-hand accounts of the devastating impacts they have witnessed to the natural world.
“Living the examined life,” said Patagonia founder, Yvon Chouinard, “is a pain in the ass.”
Chouinard realised that our world is at a tipping point; without urgent environmental action, we are on a path to destroying our planet’s ability to repair itself. Businesses and individuals are critical to this; both as part of the problem, and the solution. We all have the ability to make economic life more socially just and environmentally responsible, and less destructive to the natural world that sustains us.
Patagonia exists at the forefront of environmental and social activism. The protection and preservation of the environment isn’t what they do after hours; it’s the reason they’re in business.
The Patagonia Adventure Activists Tour is a grassroots movement for change, focusing on the environmental issues that affect us on a daily basis and encouraging discussion. Our aim of the tour is to inspire change through awareness of local NGOs alongside inspiring talks and thought-provoking films from some of the world’s top adventurers.
Featuring a range of activists who have raised the profile of environmental plights through adventure, including:
• Cal Major – ocean advocate, explorer and founder of Paddle Against Plastic
• Dan Yates – kayaker and environmental activist
• Kate Rawles – long-distance cyclist and advocate of biodiversity
• Lauren MacCallum – mountain biker, snowboarder and campaigner for land access rights
• Sian Sykes – paddleboarder and regional rep for Surfers Against Sewage
• Tim Nunn – specialist water photographer and founder of The Plastic Project.
Starting in Manchester at the Patagonia store on Thursday 27 September, we will travel on to The Barn at Banchory on Wednesday 10 October, Plas y Brenin in North Wales on Thursday 1 November and Fourpure Brewery in London on Wednesday 7 November before finishing in Kendal on Saturday 17 November at the Kendal Mountain Festival.
Join us this autumn, get involved and make a difference.
