Leading UK outdoor distributor Lyon Equipment is launching a new B2B website for retail partners.
Already renowned for its efficient customer service, Lyon Equipment wanted to give retailers access to real-time stock information and simplify the order process. A new B2B system was therefore developed featuring a full product catalogue across all brands with current stock levels, cut-and-paste product text, images, workbook downloads and product videos where available.
Customers for Petzl, now an agency within Lyon Equipment, also have access to a separate, dedicated Petzl B2B system.
Lyon Equipment’s system uses the established PrestaShop open source ecommerce software to ensure long-term stability. There are multiple daily ‘free stock’ updates and availability dates for out-of-stock items, plus a ‘wishlist’ feature with back-in-stock mail alerts. Offers, end-of-line information and educational content is promoted on the home page, and the system is tablet and mobile friendly.
The system has been extensively beta-tested with a growing number of retailers, before going live to all accounts. “We see this as an investment in efficiency and responsiveness for customers, simplifying the daily management of their stock while allowing easier monitoring of our own stock levels and increasing the availability of product information”, says Corin Burdon, Lyon’s in-house Internet Media Developer. “We believe it’s one of the most useful B2B systems from a distributor available to UK outdoor retailers, and we plan plenty of extra functionality in the future”.
