French technical mountain brand Millet has announced it is to support British climber Guy Steven as a sponsored athlete.
Steven is a well-established mountain instructor and part of a new generation of young, passionate climbers operating at a high technical standard.
Steven guides clients for both Plas y Brenin and Glenmore Lodge plus at least eight other organisations across the summer and winter seasons. An impressive resume of British and Alpine routes including the classic north faces of the Eiger, Droites and Matterhorn, plus many more hard alpine and Scottish climbs, means that he is well acquainted with the demands on technical gear across multiple disciplines.
Steven will be using Millets technical clothing, footwear, backpacks and ropes according to Matt Jordan from Wildside Trading, UK agents for Millet. He said: “Guy is a perfect fit for Millet as he is young, personable with a clear passion for the outdoors, a great communicator and someone who has strong opinions about gear. Millet already counts the Chamonix Guides Company amongst its product testing and design partners so Guy’s British input will definitely complement this.”
Climber Steven said: “Having already used several Millet products and been impressed with their design and durability, I jumped at the chance to get involved. This is gear that consistently performs across all the situations I work in, summer and winter, so it gives me great confidence. I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in.”
