2011 is record-breaking year for outdoor tradeshows across the world
Both Asia Outdoor and Outdoor Retailer in the US recorded record breaking years in 2011.
The sixth Asia Outdoor show drew record exhibitor and visitor numbers at the largest show to date. Some 19,180 visitors attended the four-day show in Nanjing, China with 452 brands on show over an area of 42,000 sq m.
Asia Outdoor founder Knut Jaeger said: “Asia Outdoor is growing at the same pace as the market and is well on its way to becoming the world’s number three among the big outdoor tradeshows, after OutDoor, the leader, and Outdoor Retailer in the US.”
The 2011 summer edition of Outdoor Retailer was held held in Salt Lake City, Utah at the start of last month. Around 25,000 retailers, exhibitors and media attended the four-day show, with increases in every measurable category recorded according to official stats, including exhibitor booth space, exhibiting brands, retailers and overall attendance with most categories posting double-digit percentage growth.
Jaime Eschette, strategic outreach manager at Teva, said: “The show has been amazing for us; it’s been very successful from a retailer perspective as well as what I do with PR. The show does an amazing job bringing in all the right editors to talk to about our products, and our booth was wall-to-wall the whole time. There really is no other show that we can go to that encapsulates the vibe of the outdoor space like Outdoor Retailer.”
This year’s summer show also featured the firstever new exhibitor pavilion, a 53,300 sq ft space home to 165 new brands at the show.
“The outdoor industry has been resilient during recession times and that dynamic, combined with the popularity of the active outdoor lifestyle, has fuelled even higher interest in Outdoor Retailer,” said Kenji Haroutunian, show director. “The technology, innovation and youthful energy evident at the show is exactly what businesses want to be a part of.”
Outdoor Retailer Summer Market will return on August 2-5, 2012. Asia Outdoor 2012 will take place July 26-29.
