Return of the Rapture

Following the success of its original, premium Rapture range, PING has launched the Rapture V2 series, incorporating driver, fairway woods, hybrids and irons. The new range will complement the G10 Series, which will continue into 2009.
“Our newest products are the result of our focus on multi-metal technology,” said John Solheim, CEO and chairman of PING, at the company’s annual sales meeting in Phoenix on August 5. “Each of the new designs combines key properties of its various materials to optimise performance. The common material throughout all of the new products is tungsten. From the driver to the putters, we’ve utilised the density of tungsten in strategic locations to optimise weight distribution and maximise performance. Once again, our engineers have out-done themselves.”
The Rapture V2 range, which will begin worldwide distribution in mid-September, includes a 4600cc titanium driver with tungsten weights located near the heel and toe. The club has a low centre of gravity in order to produce a high launch angle and low spin rate, with a high MOI. The club will be available in lofts of 9, 10.5, 12 and 13.5 degrees.
“When it comes to product, [PING] make it better than it was and don’t take any short cuts getting there,” said Solheim, the son of PING’s founder Karsten Solheim. “From a business standpoint, [we] maintain the trust and integrity that has earned the PING name a reputation for innovation and quality around the world.”
