ISPO Munich 2017 has selected mountain brand Salewa’s new Ultra Train 18 Backpack for speed hiking to receive an ISPO Gold Award.
The ISPO jury said: “The open shoulder structure combined with the double buckle system keeps the pack snug on your back but doesn’t hinder you in any running movement.”
“The main problem with speed hiking is that you need a lightweight backpack with more volume than a trail running vest, but still with load stability and good breathability,” explains Giordano Vechiet, productmanager equipment SALEWA.
“Our solution is a backpack with the close fit of a trail running vest and the volume of a hiking pack. To achieve this, the Ultra Train 18 features an innovation, the Twin Compression System.
It allows you to easily squeeze and snug the backpack to your back using two adjustment straps. Breathability and freedom of movement are
guaranteed via the split design of the shoulder straps and extensive use of OrthoLite® foam for shoulder and back contact area.”
