Sealskinz, is launching its first ever collection for Spring / Summer. For more than 17 years, the company has been designing and manufacturing waterproof, breathable products that make the Great Outdoors more accessible.
Whilst entering the Spring / Summer market may seem like quite a departure for Sealskinz, it is in fact an obvious step forward for the company as it already has extensive knowledge of technical fabrics as David Richards, Head of Marketing at Sealskinz explains, “The challenge for our designers wasn’t to break the mould, just to reapply our knowledge. Our first Spring / Summer collection brings in brand new technologies and sees established, successful ones used in new ways. The British weather is as unpredictable as it gets, so we have created highly breathable products for high octane activities and those rare, heady days of summer, but there are also lightweight waterproof options for when the heavens predictably open.”
The Spring / Summer 2016 collection has ranges for Outdoors; Mountain Biking; Road Biking; and the company’s first ever Running range. Alongside lightweight water resistant gloves and hats are the company’s first ever single layer socks. There are multiple fabric technologies on show which deliver functional activity specific designs. New technologies include Isolfil®, this new yarn is 160 times less absorbent than cotton and five times more durable than wool. So, as well as offering maximum breathability and moisture management, it also regulates skin temperature and out performs traditional fabrics.
After a successful introduction in gloves, Nanosealz® is seen for the first time in socks. This technology has allowed the Sealskinz R&D team to create a lightweight, water repellent sock that is incredibly soft and highly breathable.
The Halo glove in the new Run category demonstrates Sealskinz’s ability to examine the needs of a market and bring exciting new products to life. The Halo is made up of a powerful triple LED light integrated into the back of a lightweight glove. The light is visible from 150m and has a run time of 200 hours. The glove itself has a touchscreen compatible thumb and index finger, making it the perfect runners who want to track their activity.
