Roger Southcott, Director of the Outdoor Industries Association, has announced he will be leaving the association at the end of October 2007.
Joining initially to run the trade exhibition, taking over from the inimitable Captain Frank Harrison, Roger has been with the OIA since 1990, and as Director since 1994. During those 17 years he has worked with 12 different Chairman, and many council members, all of whom gave their time to the association to try and drive the trade forward.
His departure comes at a time of major change within the association as the need for a new strategic vision becomes the focus of the executive council in light of the impending comprehensive report from Lewis Grundy, the external consultant brought in to rationalise this change.
Roger said: “This change process needs a new pair of hands to guide the association through the next period. I have had the most fulfilling and enjoyable time at the OIA, but it is time to move on and hand the reins to someone who will bring a fresh perspective to the role.”
Sangita Haria, who joined the OIA in April 2006 has, in light of Roger’s departure, also announced that she too will be moving on from the association.
The OIA is looking at all options in considering Roger and Sangita’s replacements.
