The European Outdoor Group (EOG) has signed BlackYak as the third major sponsor of the European Outdoor Summit (EOS) 2016, which takes place from 29-30th September at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Barcelona, Spain.
A first-time sponsor of the EOS, Korean mountain clothing brand BlackYak completes the trio of major sponsors alongside ISPO and W.L Gore & Associates, and is a key addition to the sponsorship line-up.
Supported by the sector’s largest brands and organisations and taking place in just under five months, the EOS will see over 300 senior executives within the outdoor industry from across Europe and beyond come together to explore the major issues facing the sector; this year’s theme is ‘An Industry in Evolution’.
BlackYak manufactures high quality technical mountain clothing and equipment used by professional mountaineers and recently won an ISPO Gold award for its innovations. The company is now looking to establish itself globally, with plans in place to expand into America, Japan, China and Hong Kong. BlackYak will launch in Europe later this year.
Maximilian Nortz, managing director international business – Europe, comments: “Since BlackYak was born in the Himalayas, it took us a while to become category leader for outdoor apparel in South Korea and a major player in Asia. Now, roughly four decades later we are finally entering the European market with unique products that have been developed in and for Europe. Becoming a major sponsor of the EOS enables us to emphasize our dedication and our understanding of the European Outdoor market and its rules. We are honoured and happy to join this expedition and look forward to a fruitful and challenging journey.”
The EOS organisers also welcome on board Spanish outdoor clothing and equipment brand Ternua, the Institut Barcelona Esports (The Barcelona Sports Institute), Swedish outdoor equipment transportation, packs and luggage specialist Thule and hydration solution specialist CamelBak, who have signed as Support sponsors of the EOS 2016.
Returning sponsors of the Summit, CamelBak and Thule continue to position themselves as key brands within the industry, while Jokin Umerez, managing director, Ternua, comments: “The EOS has become the key networking and get together event for the European outdoor industry; it is therefore a great pleasure for us to support it this year, especially as it coincides with being hosted in Barcelona.”
An important and fitting addition to the EOS this year, the Institut Barcelona Esports is an autonomous body created by Barcelona City Council and is responsible for managing sports activity carried out in the Catalan capital in an innovative and effective way; raising its profile and ensuring social cohesion in the neighbourhoods.
