Nottingham outdoor accessories supplier appoints new managing director
Trekmates has appointed Keith Paxton as its new managing director.
Paxton took up his position on June 1, and has a background in the outdoor industry having previously worked for Fiskars in the US as executive vice president with responsibility for the Gerber and Brunton brands.
He has also worked as UK managing director for Silva and spent time with Columbia and Adidas.
Trekmates chairman Chris Prentice said: “I am delighted to have attracted a managing director of the calibre and experience set of Keith to lead the business over the next few years as we develop the Trekmates brand internationally.”
Prentice completed a management buy-in of Trekmates in December 2005 with a further transaction in February 2011 which brought in private equity investor Enterprise Ventures and the Co-operative Bank.
Trekmates said it is now one of the UK’s leading designers of outdoor accessories and supplies products to over 500 retail stores throughout the UK and increasingly into Europe. Trekmates trades under its own brand and key product groups include Gore-Tex gloves, hats and accessories.
Paxton said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Trekmates brand at this time. I have admired the outstanding progress the business has made over recent years and look forward to developing the brand to its full potential with the Trekmates team.”
